Fun things to do with the kids in and around Cascais
House of Stories
A magical museum just for kids inside the beautiful Paula Rego art center. There are interactive exhibitions, storytelling sessions, and art workshops. Kids absolutely love it!
KidZania Lisboa
An indoor city built for kids where they can try out real-world jobs — firefighter, pilot, doctor, chef, and dozens more. Located at Dolce Vita Tejo, about 20 minutes from Cascais. Kids genuinely love it and it fills an entire afternoon. Parents can sit and relax while kids roam independently (older ones) or join them. Not cheap but cheaper than three failed indoor outings in a row on a rainy day.
Centro Cultural de Cascais
Cascais' cultural centre runs sporadic kids' theatre, storytelling sessions, and art workshops — mostly in Portuguese but occasionally in English. The building itself is in the Cidadela complex near the marina and is worth a look. Not an everyday outing but worth following on Instagram for their kids' programme, especially during school holidays and rainy weekends.
Marina de Cascais
The Cascais marina is a great free wander with kids. Watching the boats come and go, counting sailboats, spotting fish in the water. There are a few restaurants and ice cream spots around the edge. Combine with the Cidadela next door and the paredão for a full afternoon. Flat and fully stroller-friendly. Best in the late afternoon light.
