Kid-friendly restaurants where the whole family can enjoy
Polo Pizza
Wood-fired pizza inside the Quinta da Marinha equestrian center. The setting is unique — you eat surrounded by horse stables in a rustic farm atmosphere. Kids love watching the horses while waiting for their pizza. The pizzas are excellent and the outdoor area is spacious. A truly one-of-a-kind dining experience that combines great food with a mini adventure for the kids.
Guimas
A Brazilian-French bistro in central Cascais with a fun vintage atmosphere — checkered floors and a jazz soundtrack. The menu mixes Portuguese and Brazilian flavors with French bistro classics. Good portions and a relaxed vibe that works well with kids. Located on a pedestrian street so no traffic worries. Great for a family lunch or early dinner.
Nicolau
An all-day brunch and café spot in the heart of Cascais. Known for its healthy bowls, great pancakes, and creative egg dishes. The vibe is relaxed and modern — perfect for a family brunch. They have good options for picky eaters too. Right next to the pedestrian center so you can walk around after. One of the most popular breakfast spots in town — arrive early or book ahead.
Souldough Pizza
Artisan sourdough pizza in a casual and cozy setting. The dough is slow-fermented which makes it lighter and easier to digest. Great selection of toppings with both classic and creative options. The space is small but welcoming, and they also do takeaway. Dog-friendly too if you have a four-legged family member. A solid choice for a relaxed pizza night.
Penha Longa Pestana Resort
A luxury resort in the Sintra hills with multiple restaurants and incredible grounds to explore. Extremely family-friendly with a kids' club, playground, mini golf, and pools. Every restaurant has a kids' menu. The Italian restaurant Mercatto is the most casual option for families. A great place for a special occasion meal or a full day out. The gardens and nature trails around the resort are worth exploring with kids.
Casa da Guia
A cluster of restaurants in a converted clifftop estate overlooking the Atlantic. Multiple cuisines to choose from — Portuguese, Asian, burgers, seafood — so everyone finds something. There's outdoor seating, a small grass area kids can wander on, and the view genuinely does some of the parenting for you. One of the best spots in Cascais to combine a proper meal with a family-friendly setting.
Bafureira
Old-school Portuguese restaurant right on the beachfront between Cascais and Estoril. Kids welcome, grilled fish that doesn't intimidate small eaters, and a terrace with ocean views. The kind of place where nobody rushes you and the waiter brings bread before you've sat down. Not fancy, not trying to be — just reliable, honest Portuguese food in a beautiful spot.
House of Wonders
A vegetarian-friendly, colourful café-restaurant in central Cascais. The kind of place that doesn't blink at a kid drawing on the paper tablecloth. Healthy bowls, creative salads, good juices, and enough familiar options (pasta, toast) for picky eaters. The interior is bright and welcoming, and they have a small outdoor terrace on the pedestrian street. A solid family lunch spot.
Forneria São Pedro
The pizza fallback every family needs. Located in São Pedro do Estoril, this is where our kids vote to go when we don't want a project. Good wood-fired pizzas, simple menu, casual atmosphere. Nothing fancy but everything works — the pizza comes fast, kids eat without complaints, and parents can actually finish a conversation. Reliable and repeatable.
